His sound stems from his love of Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul with some Rock influences. Ron Royal™ brings you into his kingdom with passion, energy, and honesty in a way that gets you up out of your seat, making you want to move, making you want to live, think and be ROYAL! Born in Germany, but raised in South Carolina (Charleston, McCormick and Sumter) Ron Royal began writing and performing as one half of the Hip-Hop duo Black Diamond.
It was during his time spent living in Biloxi, Mississippi after the untimely death of of his Black Diamond counterpart Arthur (ImFamous T) Tips, that he met producer KÜL KOLD and with the support of friend John Turner, he not only chose to continue music, but also developed what's become the Ron Royal sound. Predominantly displayed over a backdrop filled with melodies and harmonies, Ron Royal tells the stories of his life in a manner that makes you feel as if you were there with him. After being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Royal returned home to SC, ready to face not only the past, but also the music. He began writing and performing all over the Southeast including NC, SC, GA, FL with regular performances in Charlotte, NC.
Ron Royal has released 2 mixtapes, 2010's Royal Pleasure mixtape, hosted by Ka$h Kastro, dubbed the Hip-Hop 12 Play, and 2013's Royal Pleasure Reloaded hosted by Core DJ's DJ Yasmin Young of Power 98's Morning Maddhouse/Power 93.7 WBLK. He collaborated with Charlotte artist Red Clay on the Therapy Mixtape also in 2013. Other collaborators include artist Rell (Roc-A Fella), Gilitene (Staten Island All-Stars), and Starboy (DMP)
Ron Royal's live shows tend to take you back to the type of intimate energy, reminiscent of house parties, where everyone knows each other and are ready to have a good time, while utilizing lyrics that tell stories and draw you into many of his various experiences as if you were there first-hand, creating a memorable moment that you will want to experience again and again.
On Jan 15th, 2016 Ron Royal released his EP "In The Meantime..." on So Royal Entertainment exclusively on ronroyal.com and it was released to all digital retailers on Jan 15th 2016. The EP features appearances by Rell, Red Clay, Starboy, Punkin, Nilaja, Pennie Dee, V. Latrice, and Chris Ray. The EP features production from KÜL KOLD, B-Crazy, Main Event West and Ron Royal.
Ron Royal has begun working on his as yet to be titled follow-up to ITM..., with producer KÜL KOLD, Rell and DJ Prime.
